Four leaders in business who have made significant contributions to their companies and communities will receive Wayne State University Corporate Leadership Awards Wednesday, June 25, at the Hilberry Theatre. A community reception begins at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m.
Marina Houghton, president, Wolinski & Co., C.P.A., in Detroit, will receive the Emerging Corporate Leader Award, presented to an alum who is an entrepreneur or following a successful second career path and who shows great potential for future leadership in a chosen field. Houghton graduated from the School of Business Administration in 1985 and lives in Mount Clemens.
George Hill, president, Diversified Chemical Technologies, Inc., in Detroit, will receive the Distinguished Corporate Leader Award for his work as a mentor and providing a lifetime of service to his industry and Wayne State. A 1964 College of Liberal Arts grad, Hill lives in West Bloomfield.
Iris Taylor, chief nursing officer and president, Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women's Hospital in Detroit, will receive the 21st Century Award. This award is for alumni who have shown personal and professional leadership in one of these areas: global leadership, technological innovation, urban involvement or a commitment to diversity. Taylor has three degrees from WSU: a bachelor's in nursing in 1974, a master's in nursing in 1978, and a doctor of philosophy degree from the College of Liberal Arts in 1996. She lives in Detroit.
Mary Kramer, associate publisher/editor, Crain's Detroit Business in Detroit, will receive the Corporate Citizenship Award for her spirit of volunteerism, service and commitment to improving the quality of life in the community. She is a resident of Detroit.
