Harvard grants Wayne State professor $7,000

Wayne State classics professor Michele V. Ronnick won a highly competitive grant from the James Loeb Classical Library Foundation housed in the Department of Classics at Harvard University. Funds (just under $7,000.00) were awarded to Ronnick to produce a photo installation entitled, "12 Black Classicists."

The show, featuring little known Black classicists from the 19th century, will be displayed at the Detroit Public Library for the month of September 2003. Then it will go on to two meetings of classicists in 2004, one in Missouri and the other in New Mexico. The schools that have loaned photos include Amherst College, Howard University, Clark-Atlanta University, Virginia State, Brown University, Harvard University and Elizabeth City State University.

Wayne State University is a premier institution offering more than 350 academic programs through 13 schools and colleges to more than 31,000 students in metropolitan Detroit.
