The Wayne State University Board of Governors will hold its next regular meeting Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in the Alumni House/McGregor Memorial Conference Center on campus.

Two items of business the board will likely take up are the operating budget and tuition rates for the 2002-03 fiscal year.

The board meetings are divided into three different sessions. The board's standing committee meetings will begin at 12:30 p.m., and are open to the public. The board takes a two-hour break for a private executive session at about 2:15 p.m., and then returns to a public session again at 4:30 p.m.

Wayne State University's Board of Governors is one of three university governing bodies in Michigan (including the University of Michigan and Michigan State University) that has constitutional independence. Its eight-elected members are picked by voters throughout Michigan and are elected to eight-year terms.
