Two auto industry leaders to be honored by Wayne State April 27

Richard E. Dauch, co-founder, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of American Axle & Manufacturing, and Susan J. Unger, senior vice president and chief information officer for DaimlerChrysler AG will receive awards at the Wayne State University School of Business Administration's Annual Recognition and Awards Program April 27, 2002, at the Detroit Marriott - Renaissance Center.

Dauch, a 38-year veteran of the automotive industry, will be named Michigan Executive of the Year. This award honors business leaders who have achieved extraordinary success and are role models for business students.

Unger, who earned her MBA from the business school in 1979, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award for her professional accomplishments and leadership.

The school also will honor faculty members James E. Martin, professor of management and industrial relations, and Harish Verma, associate professor of information systems and manufacturing. Martin will receive the Distinguished Research Award and Verma will receive the Distinguished Teacher Award.

Capping off the evening, more than 100 School of Business Administration students will receive scholarships worth approximately $350,000 - a record amount. From 1998 to 2001, WSU business students received more than $1 million in scholarships.

Founded in 1946, the School of Business Administration is one of 14 schools and colleges at Wayne State University. Accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), it has the state's largest accredited part-time MBA program.
