The Board of Governors of Wayne State University is pleased to announce the winners of the 2002 Faculty Recognition Awards. The award, created in1974 in conjunction with the President, established an annual Board of Governors Faculty Recognition Award to be given each year to five members of the regular full-time faculty in recognition of a particular achievement during the previous academic year.
Five distinguished members of the faculty are being honored for their outstanding contribution to scholarship and learning with a citation and an unrestricted grant for $2,500, which will be presented this spring at the May 1st meeting of the Board of Governors.
The winners include Professor Anca Vlasopolos, department of English, for her text entitled No Return Address: A Memoir of Displacement; Professor Lisa Vollendorf, department of romance languages and literature, for her text entitled Reclaiming the Body: Maria de Zayas's Early Modern Feminism; Professor Sandra Van Burkleo, department of history, for "Belonging to the World" Women's Rights and American Constitutional Culture; Professor Michael Scrivener, department of English, for Seditious Allegories: John Thelwall & Jacobin Writing; Assistant professor Kevin Knudson, department of mathematics for Homology of Linear Groups, Volume 193, in the series Progress in Mathematics.
