Wayne State University Library and Information Science faculty member Judith Field has been selected as one of 21 individuals to be honored as the "Best of the Information Profession" by the Special Libraries Association (SLA).
Headquartered in Washington D.C., the SLA is an international association representing the interests of thousands of information professionals in 60 countries. The Association offers a variety of programs and services designed to help its members serve their customers more effectively and succeed in the increasingly challenging environment of information management and technology.
Field, who lives in Northville, is the recipient of the SLA President's Award, which is given annually to a SLA member who during the previous year has shown a commitment to the development of the association as the premier organization for information professionals.
"Judy Field is a valuable faculty member in the Library and Information Science Program who serves as a wonderful mentor to our students," says Sandra Yee, Dean of Wayne State University Libraries. "We congratulate Judy on the award and know that it is well deserved."
SLA will hold its 93rd Annual Conference in Los Angeles, Calif., which takes place June 8 through June 13. Field will participate in the inauguration of the SLA Awards and Honors Premiere in the Crystal Ballroom of the historic Biltmore Hotel, the site of the 1933 Academy Awards, on June 13.
Wayne State University is a premier institution offering more than 350 academic programs through 14 schools and colleges to more than 31,000 students in metropolitan Detroit.
