The Hilberry Theatre on the campus of Wayne State University presents The Sisters Rosensweig, by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein, a heartwarming and comedic story about truth, love and the importance of family. The Sisters Rosensweig opens March 8 and plays in rotating repertory until May 9.
The Sisters Rosensweig tells the story of three Jewish sisters who have come together in London to celebrate the birthday of Sara, the eldest. When a faux furrier named Mervyn enters the sisters' lives, Sara finds that even at 54 there are possibilities for romance. This endearing look at three unique women and their quests for love, self-definition and fulfillment, speaks to the heart.
The Hilberry Theatre's production of The Sisters Rosensweig is directed by David Magidson. Magidson currently teaches directing and playwriting for the Wayne State University Department of Theatre. His most recent Hilberry directing credits include Picnic, Breaking the Code and The Miser. Magidson has also directed locally at the Attic Theatre and the Jewish Ensemble Theatre, including a world premier of The Half Life of Karen Silkwood. In addition to his teaching and artistic work, he is Co-director of WSU's Center for Arts and Public Policy.
The Hilberry Theatre is located on the campus of Wayne State University at the corner of Cass and Hancock in Detroit.
