Wayne State physical therapy student to skate in Olympics opening ceremony

Student Krissy Koesters dreamed of day

A Wayne State University physical therapy graduate student will skate in the Olympics opening ceremony today, Friday, Feb. 8.

Koesters, who lives in Berkley, Mich., with her parents Gary and Bev Koesters, will join about 20 other women skaters in the lavish opening program in Salt Lake City.

While her sport of choice is synchronized skating, which she practices with a top-rated group called Team Milan at Detroit Skate Club, her performance in the opening ceremonies involves more traditional figure skating.

Krissy is practicing this afternoon for this evening's opening ceremony at the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
