The School of Business Administration, along with partners the Detroit Free Press and Women's Economic Club of Detroit, is sponsoring an economic forum, "Michigan's Competitiveness: Operating in an Uncertain Economy," on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., at the Detroit Athletic Club. This second annual forum will feature a panel of prominent corporate leaders: Ellen Hughes-Cromwick, senior economist, Ford Motor Co.; Matthew Moroun, vice chairman, CenTra,Inc., a major transportation company that includes the Ambassador Bridge among its holdings; Arthur Porter, chief executive officer, Detroit Medical Center; and Raymond Vecci, president, Michigan operations, Northwest Airlines, Inc. Susan Tompor, business columnist at the Detroit Free Press, will serve as moderator.
Those interested in attending can register by contacting the Women's Economic Club at 313-963-5088 or visiting their Web site at womenseconomicclub.org. The fee is $20, which includes continental breakfast.
The forum is being held in conjunction with a WSU School of Business Administration-Detroit Free Press-sponsored economic poll. Conducted by EPIC-MRA of Lansing, the poll will target likely voters in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and focus on their perception of the economy and other issues. Results will be released prior to the Nov. 8th forum.
