GM executive to lead marketing panel discussion at Wayne State's World Bridge on August 22

Lynn Myers, general manager of the Pontiac-GMC Division of General Motors, will be the keynote speaker at Wayne State University's August 22 Major Speaker Series event. Myers' topic, "Marketing in the New Millennium," will explore the changes in vehicle marketing over the past several decades.

Myers, recently named to Automotive News magazine's "Top 100 Women in the Automotive Industry in 2000", will be joined by Harold Krivan, senior partner at J.D. Power and Associates and John Nechiporchik, president and chief operating officer of ASC Specialty Vehicles.

The Major Speaker Series event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the World Bridge Complex's German Bridge Conference Center on the third floor of Manoogian Hall on Wayne State's campus. The $15 charge for the event includes food and beverages.

Launched last month, the Major Speaker Series featured Bank One Investment Advisors Chief Economist, Anthony Chan, PhD. He delivered the keynote address in the first program of the series titled "Recent Developments in the Global Economy," sponsored by Bank One Corporation. Future events will include a design panel discussion in September and a global trade event in October.

Prior to her 1998 appointment as general manager of General Motors' Pontiac-GMC division, Myers served as the category director of that division's Pontiac brands. She's been with General Motors since joining Oldsmobile Divisionin 1973. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in marketing from Michigan State University. Myers received the McCall's/Ward's Auto World/New York International Auto Show's first annual "Outstanding Woman in the Automotive Industry" award in marketing in 1994 and the MSU Alumni Service Award in1995.

Also participating in the program will be Harold Krivan and John Nechiporchik.

John Nechiporchik is responsible for all specialty vehicle programs and manufacturing operations. Prior to ASC Specialty Vehicles, he served as President of Automobile Specialty Company, a business unit of ASC Incorporated. He began his career with ASC in 1983 as a plant manager, holding this position at several plants before becoming Assistant General Manager of Automobile Specialty Company in 1987. Prior to ASC he worked for the Packard Electric Division of General Motors Corporation, where he first worked as a co-op student while studying at General Motors Institute (GMI). He holds a bachelor's degree from GMI in Industrial Administration, and maintains a close affiliation with the organization as a member of the GMI Corporate Partners Advisory Council.

The World Bridge Global Education Complex is the largest center for distance learning for foreign languages, cultures and corporate training in Detroit. Opened in November 2000, the complex has 275 computers connected to one of the nation's most powerful broadband fiber networks. The World Bridge serves the Southeastern Michigan corporate and academic community with training programs for U.S. companies with operations abroad and foreign companies with operations in Michigan.
