Bank One Investment Advisors Chief Economist Anthony Chan will be the keynote speaker Wednesday, July 11 at a panel discussion on the global economy at Wayne State University's World Bridge global education complex. The presentation is part of World Bridge's Major Speakers Series on recent developments in the global economy.
Chan's presentation on the global economy will be enhanced by three panelists: Robert H. Schnorbus, Ph.D., chief economist and director of Macroeconomic Analysis, J. D. Power and Associates; John McElroy, journalist, Blue Sky Productions; and James M. Boehm, director for Global Market and Economic Analysis, General Motors Corporation.
A managing director of Banc One Investment Advisors, Chan is one of the nine members of its Investment Policy Committee, which sets the investment agenda for approximately $130 billion dollars of assets under management.
Chan appears monthly on CNN and CNBC and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, The New York Times, Investor's Business Daily, Business Week and The Bond Buyer. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree in finance and investments from Baruch College and master's and doctorate degrees in economics from the University of Maryland.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the World Bridge Complex's German Bridge Conference Center on the third floor of Manoogian Hall on the Wayne State University campus. The $15 charge for the event includes food and beverages.
The World Bridge Global Education complex is the largest center for distance learning for foreign languages, cultures and corporate training in Detroit. Opened in November 2000, the complex has 275 computers connected to one of the nations' most powerful broadband fiber networks. The World Bridge serves the Southeastern Michigan corporate and academic community with training programs for U.S. companies with operations abroad and foreign companies with operations in Michigan.
Future events in the Major Speaker Series include a marketing panel discussion on Aug. 22 featuring keynote speaker Ms. Lynn C. Myers, general manager, Pontiac-GMC Division of General Motors, and a design panel discussion in September.
