The Maggie Allesee Dance Department presents a summer intensive workshop series Monday, July 31, through Saturday, Aug.12, in its studios in Old Main.
The Counter Groove Dance Company (CDC) and Ballet Renaissance (BR) will participate in the program, which is open to high school and college students, dance educators, pre-professional and professional dancers.
Erica Wilson-Perkins, the King-Chavez-Parks Artist-in-Residence at Wayne State and artistic director of the CDC, will join Brianna Furnish, a WSU dance instructor and artistic director of the BR, and special guest artist Kirby Reed as instructors for the program.
The dance classes will include jazz, classical jazz, hip-hop, intermediate and advanced ballet, beginning and intermediate modern, partnering, jazz repertory, ballet repertory and dance making.
A finale performance on Saturday, Aug. 12, will feature the talents of the instructors and students. The performance is free and open to the public.
