Wayne State has announced the selection of Beverly J. Schmoll of Fenton, Mich., as dean of the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. The Board of Governors approved her appointment May 9; she will begin work July 1 and report to the provost and senior vice president of academic affairs.
Schmoll joins WSU from the University of Michigan-Flint, where she served as dean of graduate programs and research following a one-year appointment as interim chancellor. A resident of Fenton, Mich., she holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Wayne State and a doctoral degree from Michigan State University.
"Beverly Schmoll brings Wayne State the leadership, enthusiasm and experience needed to further advance the college," said Charles R. Bantz, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. "The College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions is a dynamic and essential partner in the delivery of health care and responding to the changing needs of society in this area is a challenge. Beverly Schmoll will greatly enhance the efforts of the college to foster interdisciplinary, university and professional interactions in the context of education, research and community development"
Schmoll succeeds Interim Dean Eberhard Mammen. "Eberhard Mammen came out of retirement to serve a second tour as dean of the college we appreciate his dedicated stewardship and wise counsel," said Bantz. "I also thank interim deputy deans Steve Siconolfi and Hanley Abramson. They have taken on additional significant responsibilities this year."
