The Skillman Center for Children in Wayne State University's College of Urban Labor and Metropolitan Affairs' (CULMA), is sponsoring a community forum designed to engage concerned individuals in discussions and problem-solving sessions on childcare health, safety and justice system issues.
Titled "Child Advocates: Who are They, Where are They and Why Should You Care?" this free conference will be held Friday, May 18, 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Alumni House on the Wayne State University campus. Tamara Copeland, president of the National Association of Childcare Advocates (NACA) will address the continuing need for individuals to serve as voices on behalf of the nation's children.
A panel consisting of state and local childcare leaders will respond to Ms. Copeland's presentation. Regional panelists include: Desiree Cooper, Detroit Free Press, Jane Zehnder-Merrell, Michigan League for Human Services and Patricia Sorenson, Michigan's Children.
