Fulbright grants honor Wayne State University Scholars

The Council for International Exchange of Scholars in Washington, D.C. awarded six Fulbright scholar grants to four Wayne State University faculty and two visiting scholars.

The awards are highly competitive; these WSU scholars have joined the ranks of approximately 72,000 U.S. and foreign scholars who have participated in the program since its inception in 1946.

The Fulbright Program, America's -flagship international educational exchange program, is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, United States Department of State. For 55 years, Fulbright programs have exchanged nearly a quarter of a million people - 86,000 Americans, who have studied, taught or researched in 140 countries and more than 144,000 students, scholars and professionals from other countries who have engaged in similiar activities in the United States.

The WSU Fulbright recipients include: William Bumham, WSU Law School professor, who lives in Ann Arbor; Marion E. Jackson, of the department of Art and Art History; Mbodga Mougoue, associate professor, department of Finance and Business Economics, School of Business Administration; May Seikaly, associate professor, department of Near Eastem and Asian Studies, who lives in Ann Arbor; Eliana Avila, visiting doctoral researcher in the English department; and Geeta Khadka, a reader in American Studies in WSU's College of Lifelong Learning.
