Spring Commencements

Spring commencement will be May 3. This occasion is an opportunity to generate positive media coverage for the university, and to gain recognition for certain graduates, as editors often look for human interest stories during graduation time.

In order to make the most of these opportunities, we are again requesting your help in identifying May graduates for whom earning a degree is a particularly unusual, exceptional or out-of-the-ordinary achievement. Examples: a young adult and grandparent or several members of the same immediate family graduating together; a person who overcame extreme hardship or disabilities; a person over 65; a local "celebrity" - essentially, anything that is different enough to be of interest to a large number of people.

If you are aware of any such human interest stories, please let us know as soon as possible so we can get the word out in advance to the media. You may e-mail suggestions to your usual contact person in the Marketing and Communications Division or to Tom Sakely (t.sakelyC~dmac.wayne.edu), 577-2150. Include a number where the person(s) you recommend can be reached. We will consider all suggestions. Thank you for your assistance.

PS: Please share this memo with others in your office who may be able to offer additional suggestions.
