WSU assistant dean to be honored at conference on Women and Leadership in the Workplace

Jane Thomas, PhD, assistant dean for student affairs at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, will be honored at the 2001 Women and Leadership in the Workplace Conference on April 11 at Livonia's Burton Manor.

A lifelong educator, Dr. Thomas joined the Wayne State faculty in 1968 after 10 years as a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools. She has headed the School of Medicine's student affairs operations for the past decade.

The Women and Leadership in the Workplace Conference, hosted annually by the Michigan Business and Professional Association, offers educational programming while recognizing the achievements of outstanding women in a variety of industries. Past honorees have included such Detroit-area notables as Focus: HOPE Co-founder Eleanor Josaitis and Detroit City Councilwoman Maryann Mahaffey.

Dr. Thomas joins six other local leaders, including retired Michigan Supreme Court Justice Dorothy Comstock Riley and WWJ-Radio's Roberta Jasina, as 2001 honorees.
