Professor Shulamit Reinharz, Founding Director of the Hadassah International Research Institute on Jewish Women (HIRIJW), will present a lecture entitled "Neglected Women in Jewish History," on Monday, April 2, at a brown-bag lunch at noon in 4339FAB. The program is sponsored by the Cohn-Haddow Center for Judaic Studies, with co-sponsorship by Women's Studies. Reservations are required by Thursday, March29.
"Jewish Women Around the World: What Difference Does a Country Make?" is the title of Professor Reinharz's George M. and Pearl A. Zeltzer Lecture on Women and Judaism.
It will take place at the Jewish Community Center's D. Dan and Betty Kahn Building in West Bloomfield, at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 1. The program is sponsored by the Cohn-Haddow Center, with co-sponsorship by Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah, Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit, and Brandeis University National Women's Committee-Greater Detroit Chapter.
As the first and only woman to hold the rank of full professor of sociology at Brandeis University, Professor Reinharz has directed the Women's Studies Program since1982. She created the world's only graduate degree program in Jewish Women's Studies.
