For the past few years, 8th grade students from Wayne State's University Public School (grades 6, 7, 8) have been involved in a hands-on scientific experiment with the NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The project enables students at the school to gather scientific data about the planet Jupiter using one of the deep space network's radio telescopes located in the Mojave Desert.
Next Monday, March 5, a California film crew, directed by Tony Dow (the Beaver's older brother) will direct a film crew at the University Public School that is making a documentary about the NASA project.
The WSU site is one of a number from around the U.S. chosen to participate for a film planned for national television next summer.
The film crew will set up Monday morning. The students go on line at 12:30 p.m.
Reporters and editors who would like more information may contact University Public School Principal Fred Borowski at (313) 964-1600.
