WSU conference to showcase accomplishments in teaching with technology set for March 8

WSU's Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable (TLTR) is sponsoring the second annual "Teaching & Learning with New Technologies" conference on Thursday, March 8, at the David Adamany Undergraduate Library.

This conference will showcase for faculty and students the many applications of information technology in use for instruction at Wayne State. It will provide faculty the opportunity to share ideas, accomplishments, real life experiences and innovative methods with colleagues. The conference will show by example what can be done with technology and identifies resource people in the area.

The daylong conference will be held at various locations throughout the UGL and will feature current instructional technology projects by faculty in various WSU schools and colleges. Presented in a wide range of formats, those projects will include electronic demonstrations, poster sessions, panel discussions, vendor displays, and workshops.

A panel of TLTR members refereed all proposal submissions.

Charles Bantz, Wayne State's provost, will be the keynote speaker. He believes that, "It is evermore important to enhance student learning; technologies offer an avenue to that improvement - a challenging opportunity, but one we must pursue."

The registration fee is $10, which includes entrance to sessions, exhibits, and lunch if registered by March 1. Students may register at no charge; however, a $10 fee is required for lunch. Early registration is available online at http://www.cll.wayne.edu/tltcprop/register.htm until March 1, or in person the day of the conference.

The TLTR, a group of about two-dozen WSU faculty, staff, and students, was formed in 1997 to advise Wayne State's provost about appropriate uses of technology in teaching. The TLTR meets once a month at various technology centers throughout campus. Please contact the Office for Teaching &Learning, 2210 Adamany Undergraduate Library for the location and time of the next meeting. Meetings are open to anyone in the WSU community with an interest in teaching with technology.
