Charles Brown has been appointed vice president for the Division of Student Development and Campus Life at Wayne State University.
Most recently Brown served as the senior associate vice president for student affairs at the University of Alabama. Prior to Alabama he worked in student affairs at the University of Delaware and Illinois State University.
A graduate of Illinois State University, Brown's doctorate is in educational administration. He also holds a master's in education administration from ISU and a bachelor's in sociology and education from Blackburn College. In addition, Brown completed a management development program at the Harvard University School of Education.
Brown will be taking the reins from interim vice president Robert Carter, who also serves as dean of the College of Lifelong Learning. Carter will retire later this summer.
