Several events are planned for March in recognition of Women's History Month.
A proclamation recognizing Women's History Month will be presented at noon Monday, March 6, in the south lounge on the second floor of the Student Center Building.
It is the second in a new series presented by the university to celebrate diversity and different groups on campus. The event is free and open to all faculty, staff and students, and is sponsored by the Division of Governmental and Community Affairs.
Photos, posters, books and other artwork showcasing women's history will be on display during regular library hours in the atrium of the David Adamany Undergraduate Library. The "Second Annual Women's History Month Exhibit: A Celebration" is sponsored by the Affirmative Action and Equity Committee of the President's Commission on the Status of Women.
Another event sponsored by that committee is a brown bag lunch lecture, "Climbing the Career Ladder - Moving Up at WSU," planned for noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in the community room of the Adamany Undergraduate Library.
Speakers include Denise Bryant, labor relations specialist; Mildred Jett, manager of training and development; and Marjorie Keyes, director of Equal Employment Opportunity.
Each speaker will provide insight on what women need to know to further their career and then take questions from the audience. The event is geared toward non- faculty women employees, but all staffers are invited to attend.
Questions can be submitted prior to the presentation by sending an e-mail to ag1654@wayne.edu by Friday, March 10.
Beverages will be provided and reservations are requested by March 10. To reserve a seat call (313) 577-8369 or (313) 577-5093.
