Edgar Scribner elected chairman of Wayne State's Board of Governors

Edgar Scribner has been elected by colleagues on the Wayne State University Board of Governors to a one-year term as board chairman. The action, effective immediately, was taken at the annual reorganization session held during the Jan. 27 board meeting.

Scribner, who is president of the Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO, has served on the WSU board since 1993. He was vice chairman of the eight-member body during1999. He earned a bachelor's degree from WSU and was an instructor in the university's former Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Members of the university's Board of Governors, which is WSU's governing body, are elected to eight-year terms in statewide balloting.
