Grosse Pointe Shores resident honored by WSU Board of Governors

Michael P. Diamond of Grosse Pointe Shores, professor of obstetrics/gynecology and physiology, has received the Wayne State University Board of Governors Faculty Recognition Award for his book A Manual of Clinical Laparascopy.

The book integrates information on anatomy, instrumentation and the physics of laser surgical equipment. It also discusses in detail the application of the technology to eight gynecological problems.

Says one reviewer: "Dr. Diamond has written an extremely important contribution to the surgical literature that is destined to become a classic text."

Diamond held professorships at Yale and Vanderbilt universities before coming to Wayne State in 1994 as professor and director of reproductive endocrinology. In the past year he was appointed the Kamran S. Moghissi Professor and the associate chairman of obstetrics and gynecology.

He holds a medical degree from Vanderbilt, did a postgraduate fellowship at Yale and completed his residency at Vanderbilt.
