"Speakeasy," the second annual "Treasure of Detroit" ball sponsored by the Alumni Association of the Wayne State University Law School, begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, in the State Theatre.
The ball is set in the 1927s, the year of the school's opening; prohibition is in effect. "Joan sent me," is the code work for entry. (Joan Mahoney is the law dean.)
The program includes entertainment of the era to follow dinner- (legal) gambling with blackjack and roulette tables, a raffle and dancing. A skit with Jim Robb, assistant dean, and other Law School friends completes the program.
Cost for the evening is $125. For more information or to make reservations, call Irma Cabello at (313) 577-3984.
