Valorie K. Vojdik will present a lecture on trial advocacy, "Storming The Citadel: Lessons From the Legal Battlefield," at 4 p.m. Monday, April 19, in room 105 of the Law School Classroom Building at Wayne State University. The lecture is the 17th in the annual I. Goodman Cohen Lecture Series.
Vojdik is professor of law at Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Mass. She was lead counsel for Shannon Faulkner and other women in Faulkner v. The Citadel and South Carolina; the case successfully challenged The Citadel's males-only admission policy as a violation of equal protection.
In 1997 she was nominated by the U. S. Marine Corps and selected by Secretary of Defense William Cohen to participate in the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference.
Vojdik has published and lectured on civil rights and sexual harassment, and has appeared on national television discussing these topics.
The event is free and open to me public. For more information call the law school at (313) 577-4157.
