Wayne State University's next session for the Parent Leadership Academy is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Murray-Wright High School, 2001 W. Warren, Detroit.
Barbara Sizemore, a distinguished educator and former dean of the College of education at DePaul University in Chicago, will be the luncheon speaker.
Topics designed to help strengthen communication, collaboration and decision-making between parents and schools will be presented by the academy; critical element to improving student achievement is a strong bond between parents and schools.
The session is open to parents, grandparents and guardians responsible for children attention a Detroit public school. Detroit Public Schools is a o-sponsor for the academy.
Although the session is free, reservations are requested. The center is located at 8200 W. Outer Drive, near the Southfield Freeway.
