WSU Chief of Staff Meredith Gibbs shares career keys to success

Meredith Gibbs, new chief of staff at Wayne State university, shared her career experiences and keys for success at the first "Getting to Know You" brown bag luncheon Wednesday, Feb. 10, for the President's Commission on the Status of Women.

Speaking to a standing-room-only audience, she challenged members to jump at opportunities, to take risks. Six of her career keys to success were:

Befriend change;
Develop emotional intelligence;
Share credit;
Do not bear grudges;
Cultivate curiosity;
Maintain a positive attitude;
Love what you do; and
Find balance in your life.

Gibbs brought one prop with her, a copy of the Campus News. She held it up for the group to see showing the diverse event and activity opportunities available on campus-lectures, seminars, performances, classes, art, meetings, etc.

In closing she advised the group members to pursue their hearts' desire and maintain a strong work ethic to gain success in their careers.
