Black History Month: WSU exhibition opens Feb. 3 in Washington, D.C
"Marching toward Justice" an exhibition about the history of the 14th Amendment opens Feb. 3 in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building in Washington, D.C. Wayne State University's Damon J. RFK Jr. will meet with media Feb. 4
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be on campus Thursday, Feb. 4, to present a lecture on "Our Environment's Destiny." Kennedy, chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper and senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, will be available to meet with the media from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in room 289 of the Student Center Building. The story of Valentine's Day begins in the third century with an oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian martyr. The emperor was Claudius II. The Christian was Valentinus. To continue the story, don't bother reading the book. Call us. Take your pick - Feb. 16 is Pancake Day, Fat Tuesday or Paczki Day
The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which begins the fast of the Lenten season, has many traditions. The Polish enjoy Paczki (Poonch-key) Day, named for the jelly-filled yeast doughnuts. It is a day of high festival and merriment. Richard Raspa of the College of Lifelong Learning can tell you about other traditions of the day. This is not a Polish joke.
