The Wayne State University Alumni Association is holding a "Tartar Hoops!" reception as part of the men's and women's basketball games on Saturday, Feb.20. The women's game begins at 1 p.m. and the men's follows at 3 p.m. The reception runs from 2 to 3 p.m. in Endowment Hall of the Matthaei Physical Education Building.
The men's team began the season with its best start in more than 42 years, earning a national NCAA Division II ranking of third. It will battle Westminster College in what could be a pivotal game in the conference's final standings.
The women's team is positioning itself as a conference power under new head coach Karen Hall.
Admission to the reception costs $12 for association members, $15 for non-members and $6 for children 12 and younger. Admission includes tickets to the games, reserved seating, appetizers, parking and a chance at winning several door prizes. The program also will include remarks by Athletic Director Bob Brennan.
To reserve a spot call the Alumni Relations office at (313) 577-2300 or stop by Alumni House, 441 Ferry Mall.
