Tartar alumni volunteers needed to pack boxes at food bank

The Community Relations Committee of the Wayne State University Alumni Relations Board is seeking volunteers to help pack bulk food and emergency food boxes from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Gleaners Community Food Bank.

The Gleaners Food Bank is dedicated to alleviating hunger in southeastern Michigan by securing, storing and distributing food to local nonprofit agencies that prepare and distribute food to the hungry.

Secure and convenient parking is available. For more details or to sign up for this event, call Phil Fox in Alumni Relations at (313) 577-2167.

Other volunteer opportunities in the planning stages are a Channel 56 pledge drive and Detroit Clean Sweep, as well as more food packing at the Cannery in Farmington Hills.
