Detroit City Councilwoman Brenda M. Scott will present a $10,000 check to Wayne State University President Irvin D. Reid at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, in the WSU Office of Development, 5475 Woodward, Detroit.
The money was raised through a summer golf outing to be held annually for the Brenda M. Scott Endowed Scholarship Fund at Wayne State. Scott is a former member of the WSU Board of Governors.
The golf outing was supported by gifts from several organizations including the Detroit Lions, White Castle restaurants, O'Brien Kreitzberg, Barden Companies Inc., Coca-Cola and P.R. Networks.
Detroit City Councilman Clyde Cleveland served as honorary golf outing committee chairman and general committee chairman was Judge Greg Mathis of the36th District Court. The event was co-chaired by Denise Lewis of the WSU Board of Governors and Selina Johnson, president of the Hollywood Golf Institute.
