The 45th annual On Stage dance performances for children presented by the Wayne State University Dance Company will be 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in the Community Arts Auditorium.
The concert is designed to introduce young people to dance movement in a lively and informal manner. Travel is the theme for this year's choreography, allowing audiences to experience movement in a variety of travel modes including radio, television and the Internet.
Eva Powers of Bloomfield Hills, chairwoman of the WSU dance department, says the creative energy in this year's concert is superb. "The choreography is truly exciting -- the performance will take the imagination on a splendid journey," she says.
Denby Technical and Preparatory, Detroit Fine and Performing Arts, Kettering, Murray Wright, Northwestern and Redford high schools are among 11 schools with students in the concert. Other schools are Detroit Windsor Second Dance Company, Spain Middle School, Winans Academy of Fine Arts, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior and Southfield Lathrup Senior high schools.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for children. With a special coupon, two tickets are available for the price of one. For more information call the WSU dance department office at (313) 577-4273.
