Edward Hirsch, former English faculty member and current recipient of the coveted MacArthur Award, will present a reading at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6,in room 2324 in the English department at Wayne State University. He will sign copies of his latest book of poetry, On Love, following the reading.
The reading will be the most recent Dennis Turner Memorial Lecture, held in memory of Dennis Turner, a widely published and exceptionally promising young film scholar who passed away at a young age. A generous donation from the Turner family supports the lecture series.
Hirsch was assistant professor at Wayne State from 1978-82 and associate professor from 1982-85. He left to accept an appointment at the University of Houston.
His other published books of poetry include Wild Gratitude and For the Sleepwalkers.
