The Wayne State University Alumni Association will celebrate the inauguration of WSU President Irvin D. Reid with an ice cream social on Saturday, Sept. 19, and a pancake breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 20. The events, which will be held under a tent on the university's Ferry Mall near Alumni House, will coincide with the annual Detroit Festival of the Arts in the University Cultural Center area.
Ice cream social patrons will create their own scrumptious sundaes from a "works bar" stocked with strawberries, bananas, crushed pineapple, walnuts, various syrups, cherries and whipped cream. The following day's pancake breakfast will feature hot-off-the-griddle pancakes with maple syrup, sausage links, juice, milk and coffee
The public is invited and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets for the ice cream social on Sept.19 are $3.50 per person ($1 for children 3 and under). Tickets for the pancake breakfast are $5 ($2.50 for children 12 and under).
Seatings for the pancake breakfast will be at 10 and 11:30 a.m. For the ice cream social, seatings will be at 2 and 3 p.m. For more information and an order form, call WSU Alumni House at (313) 577-2166 or check the Web site atwww.alumni.wayne.edu
