Wayne State lowers tuition rates for residents of Ontario, northwest Ohio

In an effort to extend its recruiting reach, Wayne State University will waive out-of-state tuition rates for residents of Ontario, Canada, and four counties in northwest Ohio beginning this fall.

At its April 24 general meeting, the university's Board of Governors approved a recommendation from William Markus, vice president for student affairs, to allow students from Williams, Fulton, Lucas and Ottawa Counties in Ohio and students from the province of Ontario to attend WSU at resident tuition rates.

The new tuition provision would save an undergraduate student $133 per credit hour, an upper division undergraduate student $148 and a graduate student $182 per credit hour. WSU's Michigan resident tuition per credit hour is currently $108 for undergraduates, $138 for upper division students and $159 for graduate students.

Students from Ontario and Ohio may not displace qualified applicants who are Michigan residents.
