Unlock your imagination at Wayne State's 16th annual Detroit Festival of Storytelling March 27, 28

"Unlock Your Imagination-With Story," the 16th annual Detroit Festival of Storytelling, will be held in connection with Communication Week on Friday and Saturday, March 27 and 28, in the Bernath Auditorium of the David Adamany Undergraduate Library and in St. Andrew's Hall on the Wayne Sate University campus.

The Friday concerts will feature students who will be making their debut as storytellers. Later in the evening, alumna Cynthia Moore will present a 100th birthday tribute to Paul Robeson, the multi-faceted storyteller/performer of yesteryear. Ghost and scary stories will be presented a few hours before midnight.

Laura Simms of New York will conduct a master class early in the day on Saturday. She will present a family storytelling concert later. Toasted by critics around the globe, Simms is also an actress, choreographer, teacher, folklorist and anthropologist. The recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award in 1996, Simms weaves magic as each of her performances bridges the past and the present.

Other distinguished storytellers, who will be featured, are tellers LaRon Williams and education Professor Craig Roney.
