Leadership on the agenda for Communication Week `98

Communication and Leadership will be the theme of Communication Week 1998,scheduled for March 24-28 on the Wayne State campus.

Sponsored by the department of communication, the week starts off with luncheon at noon Tuesday, March 24, in rooms F and G of McGregor Memorial Conference Center. President Irvin Reid will give the keynote address.

Panel discussions on the week's chosen theme will include academic, media and political leaders from around the state and nation. The communication department encourages participation and attendance by all faculty, students, staff and the general public. Topics will include:

* Leadership and the Academy in the 21st Century;

* An Academic View of Leadership;

* Media Leadership in the Next Century;

* Journalism's Future: View from the Top;

* Casinos: The Politics and the Press;

* What is the Role of Public Relations in Setting the Media Agenda;

* Leadership and Political Communication;

* Press Secretaries' Perspective: Getting the Message Through the Media; and

* Political Communication and Leadership Panel.

The Detroit Festival of Storytelling will take place Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28.
