Take your pick - February 24 is Pancake Day, Fat Tuesday or Paczki Day
The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which begins the fast of the Lenten season, has many traditions. The Polish enjoy Paczki (Ponch-key) Day, named for the jelly-filled yeast doughnuts. It is a day of high festival and merriment. Richard Raspa of the WSU College of Lifelong Learning can tell you about other traditions of the day. This is not a Polish joke.
