Schwikert honored by association

Paul Schwikert, associate director of the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources, recently received the Eagle Award from the Laboratory Animal Management Association (LAMA) at the group's annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif.

The award is the association's most prestigious; Schwikert is just the fourth recipient since LAMA's founding in 1984. The honor was given in recognition of his longtime leadership and continuing contributions.

He is a charter member and served as the organization's president in 1994-95,in addition to serving in other positions of responsibility in LAMA and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.

A major goal of LAMA is to provide programs to develop management expertise and skills. Schwikert was certified as a manager in 1993 through the Institute of Laboratory Animal Management, which was formed through the efforts of LAMA.
