Outstanding alumni and faculty are sought for three awards

The Wayne State University Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Award, Homer D. Strong Award and Faculty Service Award.

Nominations are due by March 1 and should be sent to Awards Committee, Wayne State University Alumni Association, Alumni House, 441 Ferry Mall, Detroit, Mich., 48202.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to alumni who excel in one or more of the following criteria:

* Outstanding personal service rendered to the university over a period of years;

* Personal accomplishments that enhance the prestige of the university;

* Distinguished service or accomplishment in any field of human endeavor (business, industry, science or profession); or

* Unusual and singular contributions to the development of the cultural or spiritual life of any community.

The Homer D. Strong Award is presented for leadership and service to the Alumni Association and university for stimulating alumni participation and significantly benefiting the university through volunteer leadership.

The Faculty Service Award is presented to WSU faculty whose professional or civic efforts have brought about a greater appreciation of the university's contributions to community service.

Nominations should include a brief statement explaining why the nominee deserves the award; the nominee's resume with outstanding features highlighted; and a list of the nominee's major accomplishments.
