Author bell hooks to speak at Humanities Center conference

Well-known author Bell Hooks will be the keynote speaker at the Humanities Center Faculty Fellows Conference Feb. 19 at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center at Wayne State University.

Hooks, author of Art on My Mind: Visual Politics and Killing Rage: Ending Racism, will discuss "Ending Domination: Celebrating the Ethic of Love" at 9 a.m. The conference runs until 4 p.m.

Other speakers include Tilden Edelstein, vice president for academic affairs, Assistant Professor Cynthia Erb of English, Assistant Professor Linda Hogle of anthropology, Assistant Professor Nancy Locke of art and art history, Professor Arthur Marotti of English, Associate Professor Manuel Martin-Rodriguez of Romance languages and literatures, Associate Professor Michele Ronnick of Classics, Greek and Latin, Professor Anca Vlasopolos of English, and Associate Professor Peter Williams of art and art history.

The conference is free and open to the public.

The Humanities Center was established in 1993 in the Graduate School and provides fellowships to WSU faculty and doctoral students.
