* 9 a.m. and 7:30 p m. Tuesdays - Liebler and Clark Iverson, WSU English, host The Vision of Words literary program with national and local writers and updates about Detroit's poetry community on WDTR-FM 90.9;
* 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 - The WSU Miles Poetry Series presents Mark Doty, East Coast poet and author of Heaven's Coast, in room 3234, English department, at 51 West Warren. The publication is a memoir about life after losing a companion to AIDS. Call 577-2450;
* 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 - The Writer's Voice presents Mark Doty and Michigan poet Patricia Hooper at the Birmingham Community House, 380 Bates, Birmingham. Call (248) 644-5832;
* Noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 - First of the Writer's Community master level workshops with Poet Patricia Hooper at the Royal Oak YMCA on 11 Mile Road. The program accepts up to 12 students. Call 577-7713;
* 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 - The Bernard J. Firestone Labor Arts Tribute features poetry and music by Jorma Kaukonen of the Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, Michael Falzarano of Hot Tuna, poet Alicia Ostriker of Rutgers University, guitarist Robert Jones of WDET-FM, and Detroit poets Jan Mordenski and Murray Jackson at Alvin's Bar, 5756 Cass, Detroit. Other programs include the fall "Body in Question" discussion series. It will focus on "The Question of Illness" with five sessions on the literature of medicine and science (poems, fiction, essays and drama). Call 577-7713 to register. * 1-3 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 18, 25, Nov. 8, 22, Dec. 6 - Rebecca Emlinger Roberts will facilitate discussions at the Birmingham YMCA on Lincoln in downtown Birmingham.
