Repairs to the Warren Avenue Bridge over the Lodge Freeway soon will necessitate closing the bridge to eastbound Warren Avenue traffic. Eastbound traffic will be diverted south on Trumbull to Forest, then east on Forest to northbound Third or Second to reconnect with Warren. Westbound traffic over the bridge will not be affected.
The Michigan Department of Transportation said the detour is necessary to keep bridge deck replacement on schedule for completion before the winter. Original plans had called for keeping at least one lane of traffic open in each direction.
At this writing, a firm date had not been set for rerouting traffic. However an MDOT engineer said work on the eastbound lanes of the bridge may begin Monday, Sept. 22. Weather and other factors can affect scheduling.
