Wayne State University will co-host a free program 7:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, on educational resources for companies in Detroit's empowerment zone. The program will be held at the UAW-Chrysler Wayne Center in Detroit.
The program, held in cooperation with the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center, includes an overview of available resources designed to improve workers' skills in reading, math, communication, computers, apprenticeships and other pre-technical areas. It will include demonstrations of multimedia courses produced by WSU and commercial vendors.
A panel discussion will feature former students as well as remarks by a manufacturing production manager. Program participants can view computer demonstrations and speak with instructors and course developers.
The UAW-Chrysler Wayne Center is located at 12101 Mack Service Drive (near Conner). Continental breakfast will be served. Advance registration is required. For more information call JoAnn Lewan at (313) 577-6675.
