A new evening program leading to a Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW) degree will be offered at the Wayne State University Oakland Center in Farmington Hills beginning in September.
The program consists of eight semesters of study spread over the junior and senior years, allowing working students to complete their program on an extended basis in the evening.
The curriculum is made up of professional and corequisite courses taken over three years including spring/summer semesters. The course outline helps students learn through both classroom situations and field work. A substantial portion of the professional component is fieldwork in the actual practice of social work. The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, the national accrediting body for professional social work education.
Admission, application and degree requirements are identical for the Oakland Center program and the Wayne State campus traditional program. Wayne State's BSW program has been ranked No. 1 in the nation four straight years by the Gourman Report .
Informational meetings for prospective social work students will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. July 17 and Aug. 12 at the Oakland Center, 33737 W. 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills. For details, call (248) 553-3545.
Application deadline is Aug. 1.
