Memorial Tribute for equal rights champion Ernest Goodman set for June 24 in Wayne State's Community Arts Auditorium

A memorial tribute to civil rights champion Ernest Goodman will be held at 4p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in Wayne State University's Community Arts Auditorium.

Mr. Goodman, a WSU Law School graduate and a founder of the law firm Goodman, Eden, Millender and Bedrosian in Detroit, died March 26 at age 90.

Admirers describe him as a man of strong principles, legal skills and courage who felt strongly about equal justice for all citizens. During his legal career he argued nine cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

He co-founded the law firm in 1951 with George Crockett Jr., who later became a U.S. Congressman. The firm is believed to be the first interracial law firm in the country.

For more information about the memorial event call Patrice Merritt at WSU's Walter P. Reuther Library, (313) 577-4024.
