Two Wayne State University women, Mildred Jeffrey, Board of Governors member emeritus, and Jane Thomas, assistant dean for student affairs in the School of Medicine, were honored at the Anti-Defamation League's Greater Detroit Women of Achievement Awards program May 1 at the Southfield Radisson Plaza Hotel.
Jeffrey, who helped establish the National Women's Political Caucus in 1971, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for "a lifetime of dedication to the advancement of equal rights."
Thomas, who serves on numerous boards, received a Women of Achievement Award for being "committed to the advancement of equal employment, integration and education."
Other Women of Achievement Award recipients were Brenita Crawford, president and chief executive officer of Mercy Hospital, Detroit; Dalia Garcia, manager of training and development, Mexican Industries, Detroit; and Susan Yorke, vice president of Temple Israel and a member of the national board of Hadassah.
