The College of Education at Wayne State University received the Best Practices Award from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education recently in Phoenix.
The award cites exceptional work in support of diversity in teacher education. It specifically recognizes the Alternative Pathways to Teaching (APT) program for minority students within the Detroit Public Schools.
Sharon Elliott, assistant dean of teacher education, says, "The success of the APT program is due to the quality and dedication of the students and their commitment to the children in the Detroit Public Schools. All of us in APT have profited from the close collaborative relationship between Detroit Public Schools and the College of Education."
