A poetry reading titled "Sisters O Sisters" celebrating International Women's Day will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in A Woman's Prerogative Book Store, 175 W. Nine Mile Road, Ferndale.
The reading will feature poets from across the country. New York City poets Rochelle Ratner and Sharon Olinka will open the program, followed by poet Valerie Tekavec of Woodstock. N.Y.
San Francisco poet Joyce Jenkins will lead into Detroit poets Terry Blackhawk, Aurora Harris, Melaine Van der Tuin and Anca Vlasopolos, an English professor at Wayne State University.
Program sponsors include the Detroit Council for the Arts, A Woman's Prerogative Bookstore and the Detroit Writer's Voice at the Downtown YMCA. M.L. Liebler, director the Detroit Writer's Voice, is a senior lecturer in WSU's English department.
